Pre-release campaigns enable you to promote your music, gain followers and collect fan data well before your music is released.
This handy guide will walk you through the process of setting up a pre-release campaign, the types of data you can collect from a pre-release campaign and how to export that data.
Setting Up Your Pre-Release Campaign
Step 1: Create Pre-Release Element
To set up your pre-release link simply head over to the Modules tab within the profile editor page and select “Add new module” => “Audio” => “Music” => “Pre-Release Smart Link” and then click next.
Step 2: Add Product Information
You’ll now be able to add your product information including artwork, title and artists.
Step 3: Choose Your Release Time
Once you’ve completed step 2 you’ll be able to choose the release time for your pre-release campaign, for this you can choose between a local or global release time:
Local Release Time:
Our Local Release Time option allows you to set up a pre-release campaign that will convert at a specified time within each timezone. With this option all you need to do is select the date and time that you want the pre-release to convert at within each timezone and we’ll do the rest!
For example, if you set a pre-release campaign to go live at 12 AM on Friday 28th January with the local release time option then it would go live on the 28th January at 12 AM GMT for someone in the UK and 12 AM PST for someone on the west coast of the US (time zones will update to handle daylight savings time).
Global Release Time:
Our Global Release Time option will allow you to have your pre-release convert at the same time everywhere in the world. All you have to do is select the exact release date, time, and timezone.
For example, if you set a pre-release campaign to go live at 12 AM on Friday 28th January GMT then it’ll covert at 12 AM for someone in the UK then it’ll go live at 5 PM for someone on the west coast of the US (time zones will update to handle daylight savings time).
Step 4: Adding Your Pre-Release Links
Once you’ve chosen your release time, it’s time to add your pre-release links. Komi currently supports Apple Music pre-adds and Spotify pre-saves for tracks, albums or EP’s.
Add Your Links:
All you need to do is enter the product link provided to you by your distributor and we’ll make sure that it’s added to the fans library on the relevant DSP at the release time you’ve selected.
Don’t Have Your Pre-Release Link Yet?
If you want to start your pre-release campaign but you haven’t yet received the final links from your distributor, don’t worry, all you need to do is tell us that this is a temporary link by flicking the temporary link switch on and we’ll make sure to send you a reminder email 7 days before the release date to update the link. We’ll use the final link you provide to add a release to users' libraries.
Artist Follow
With Komi’s Spotify pre-save service we support artist follow. Simply enter the Spotify artist URL of all the artists you want followed and when a fan completes a Spotify pre-save they’ll automatically follow these artists.
Step 5: Congratulations On Creating Your New Pre-Release Campaign
Once you’ve added in all your links and clicked next then you’re done! Your new pre-release link is ready to be published to your Komi profile.
