Step 1: Set Up Your Domain

Verifying your domain is crucial to ensure your emails land in your subscribers' inboxes, not their spam folders. To do this, you'll need to have your own domain. The process involves adding DNS records provided by KOMI to your domain host to authenticate your domain.

How to Do It:
  1. Go to Settings > Audience & Campaigns.
  2. Add your domain under Email Domain Setup.
  3. KOMI will generate DNS records (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC) for you to add to your domain’s DNS settings.
  4. Once you've added the records, click VERIFY in KOMI.

💡 Tip: Use a subdomain (e.g., hello.yourdomain.com) to protect your main domain’s reputation.

Step 2: Import Your Contacts

Importing your contacts allows you to quickly start engaging with an audience that’s already interested in your content. In KOMI, you can easily bring in your contacts using CSV or Excel files, making it simple to connect with those who have opted in to receive your communications. During this step, you can also add tags to label your contacts, making it easier to segment them for targeted campaigns later.

How to Do It:

  1. Go to Contacts under Audience & Campaigns and click Import Contacts.
  2. Upload your CSV or Excel file with your contact list.
  3. Map the columns in your file to the corresponding fields in KOMI (e.g., email, name, tags).
  4. Click Import to add your contacts to your KOMI database.

💡 Tip: Only import contacts who have explicitly opted in to receive your emails to maintain high engagement and compliance.

Step 3: Create Segments

Segments allow you to target the right message to the right people, ensuring your emails are relevant and personalized. In KOMI, segments are dynamic groups of subscribers who meet certain criteria, such as location, sign up date, and sign up source. By setting up segments, you can tailor your campaigns to specific groups within your audience, increasing the effectiveness of your email marketing.

How to Do It:

  1. Create tags during contact import by including a “Tag” column in your CSV, or manually add tags later in the Contacts section.
  2. Go to Segments under Audience & Campaigns and click New Segment.
  3. Define your criteria using filters like location, created date, or tags.
  4. Save your segment for targeted campaigns.

💡 Tip: Start by creating a broad segment, such as one that includes all subscribers. This ensures you have a general segment for any mass communication.
